Why in this digital age, custom printed flags may still be the best way to promote your company…

Digital Overload..

With every passing year, it seems the business world becomes more and more obsessed with all things digital. From Facebook advertising to Google remarketing, via email campaigns and Pay-per-click adverts, it seems there’s always another digital avenue demanding your attention. Companies worldwide labour under the omnipresent fear that their absence from any one of these channels could lead to catastrophic falls in business revenues. (“You mean to say you’re not on LinkedIn/Pinterest/Instagram/Twitter/Facebook/Yelp/Tumblr?!” they ask, horrified)

We all know that times change and there are now so many more ways to effectively promote your business name and get that awareness up. Most of these digital channels are actually great and can make this task much easier. But isn’t there still a place for solid traditional marketing such as custom printed flags for businesses? The answer has to be a resounding ‘Yes.’

There will always be a place for both, it’s just a case of fashions. However fashions are just that, trends. They do not mean necessarily that the old way no longer works. For instance, it’s true that newspaper circulations have declined since the rise of internet news, meaning print adverts are classed as less effective nowadays. It is also without doubt far quicker and easier to reach your database of thousands with a slick e-mailshot taking a few hours to create and send, as opposed to printing out and posting thousands of leaflets – But which is really better? It used to be said the flyers were just ignored, irritating little bits of junk that fell out of your letterbox and instantly found a home in your bin. But it was always a numbers game – Yes this may be the case for 95% of recipients but for what that other 5% might bring your business, the end justified the means.

New not always best?

The transient nature of most things digital means we have become a society of filterers. Like this? Share this? Buy this? No? – OK, delete this then.

They say the millennial generation read from left to right like most people, but also instinctively scan to the corners to seek the above command buttons. It’s now a world of instant assessment and judgement. So how best do you make your brand name get noticed and stick?

Well, what will never change is that people tend remember things that they actually visually (and ideally, repeatedly) see and feel much better than a message or advert that flashes up on their device briefly, with the easy option of ‘delete’ or ‘unsubscribe’ immediately to hand. Secondly there is the faint (but undeniable) scent of disillusionment with the digital bombardment. To call it a backlash may be going a step too far, but there has been a definite shift back towards tried and trusted advertising methods which had been all but abandoned by many. Frankly not everybody wants to live their life through a small screen, be it mobile, tablet or laptop. Maybe the reason these traditional methods have lasted so long is because they actually worked, and God forbid, maybe, just maybe, newer is not always better?

Fly the flag for your brand

So all that said, how best to showcase your business brand and message nowadays? If we assume using some of the aforementioned social media channels as a complementary tactic, then custom printed products are a superb way to showcase your company name in an eye-catching way. Human beings are naturally social and reactive creatures – As much as we rely on our mobile phones for all manner of things nowadays, in the business world there are still some home truths. Conferences, trade shows and exhibitions would no longer exist if we could do everything digitally, nor would face-to-face meetings. Visually displaying your brand, whether on pop up stands, banners or custom printed flags, is alive and well – and for good reason. Nothing really catches the eye like a bold, clear logo fluttering in the breeze, or a huge canvas banner that screams ‘We are here. Come and look!” Footfall still exists, so does passing traffic – Don’t miss a simple trick by publicising your business with a quality personalised flag marking your territory!

Custom printed flags have a huge advantage over many digital channel efforts to promote a brand – Being tangible products, they remain visible constantly, resolutely doing their job 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the meantime, a mailshot promoting your business has likely  been buried by an avalanche of new emails and ever-updating social feeds have temporarily obscured this digital message.

Custom everything!

Custom flags allow business branding, slogans and promotional messages and images to be flown from the rooftops! (or flagpoles and windows, at least) Modern digital printing technology has made this a much more affordable process than usual so value-wise also, it’s no contest. A purchase of a custom-printed flag can last years and years, durability being one of their main assets. Some use custom printed flags to attach to flagpoles marking their premises for all to see, others drape your business logo or sales message in the shop window itself – it is such a versatile solution. Made from professional standard 115gsm knitted polyester, the flags are very durable but crucially are also lightweight, ensuring they are not 100% dependent on the presence of wind to be seen! These can be printed on one side only or both and are available in a range of flag sizes from 3ft x 2ft to 10ft x 6.5ft, meaning whatever space you want to fill has a solution. Different shaped custom printed flags add to the flexibility too, including Teardrop flags, Feather flags, Portrait flags, Paper hand flags and Fabric Hand flags.

Customflags.co.uk provide personalised indoor banners of all shapes and sizes that are perfect for advertising a business, whether via pop-out banners, bar runners, PVC banners or roller banners. It’s an ideal and effective way to make a message stand out at the business premises, at trade shows, exhibitions, events and conferences. If it’s outdoors where you want to make an impact, then fence scrim or barrier jackets or even personalised deckchairs or custom-printed parasols are available. What quirkier way could there be to publicise your brand? Ironically, the ‘old’ way now seems novel and fresh. Who’d have thought it?

Some go further with the idea of personalised items to publicise your business – indoor furniture that showcases your brand can include cube seats, custom Directors’ Chairs, customised cushions, personalised beanbags and printed tablecloths!

So in summary…By all means keep on top of all the latest digital trends, it makes complete sense. Just not at the expense of traditional methods, with a modern twist!
